Elevate Your Game: Making the Most of Small Group Learning

This interactive session will provide a brief overview of UGME curriculum, expectations across 4 years, and how small group learning fits into the curriculum. Information regarding the pedagogical foundations for tutorials and other small group learning opportunities will be reviewed. Participants will have the opportunity to reflect on different tips and tricks for engaging learners, how to promote deeper learning, and managing challenges with small groups.

Session Objectives:

• Briefly Describe the structure of the UGME curriculum (scholar)
• Explain how small groups learning is integrated into the UGME curriculum (scholar)
• Explain the meaning of active learning and how this is used to promote deeper learning (scholar)
• Identify ways to engage students with a variety of learning styles (communicator)
• Give examples of approaches to deal with challenges that arise in small group learning (communicator)
